Waste Collection

2008 Garbage No-pickup Schedule*:

01/01/07 New Years (Tuesday)
05/26/08 Memorial Day (Monday)
07/04/08 Independence Day (Thursday)
09/01/08 Labor Day (Monday)
11/27/08 Thanksgiving Day (Thursday)
12/25/08 Christmas Day (Thursday)
01/01/09 New Years (Friday)

*Pickup will be one day late (only for or after your normal pickup day through the end of the week, which ends on Saturday)

Occasional large items will be picked up at the curb on your regular pickup day.

Acceptable items include: couches, chairs, tables, televisions, washers, dryers, stoves, carpeting and brush tied in bundles under 4 feet in length, box springs, mattresses (please fold and tie).

Items not accepted include: chest-type freezers, cast iron tubs, cement, concrete and rocks of any size.

HOW?

  • Separated from your regular trash in 30 gallon paper biodegradable bags, available at the Township Hall, your local hardware, discount, or grocery store or;
  • 32-gallon (or smaller) trash container with the lid removed and a yard waste sticker attached. Yard waste stickers are available at the Township Hall.
  • Must weigh less than 50 lbs.
  • Brush must be bundled, not to exceed 4 feet long or 24 inches in diameter

* Holiday Week. If your regular garbage and yardwaste pickup is on or after the holiday, it will be one day later.

If you have questions regarding charges, and items which may be dropped off at the landfill, call Venice Park Landfill at 810-621-9080.

Recycling

LANDFILL INFORMATION:
The location of the landfill is Venice Park, 9536 Lennon Road, Lennon, Michigan (1/4 mile west of New Lothrup Road). Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday. Occasional dumping is free to Flint Township Residents with a valid Drivers License; however, there is a charge for building materials. For questions call

Notice: To All Flint Township Residents

RECYCLING INFORMATION: The Flint Township Board of Trustees encourages recycling. A pilot-recycling program is available in Western Hills, Dye Crest Farms, Dye Krest Woods, and is coming soon to Flagstone Pointe, Lin Beech, Fairmont Park, Dye Meadow and Briarwood Subdivisions. If curbside recycling is not available in your neighborhood, we offer a drop off recycling program on the 3rd Saturday of every month at the Township Hall from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. (Recycling times changed effective January 1, 2007, and were previously 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.)
